I was blessed with a gift that I acknowledged as a kid but refused to use as an adult.
Even though I had a special love for my gift and took it seriously as a kid, what I wanted to do with my gift did not exist. You see, I had two loves...art and technology. When I was done high school in '92, there was no such thing as Cartooning or Animation as a college major. Fine Art was the only thing available back in the early 90's.
Discouraged about this, I joined the Navy and PC Repair Tech. Since '93 my life has been IT and even though I love it, I feel INCOMPLETE.
God gave me a gift to work with my hands, and even though I am working with those hands, I'm now realizing I'm not doing what He intended for me to be doing with these gifted hands...ART.
With the encouragement of my mother, Sheila Watkins (who has a Masters in Art) and my cousin and renowned artist Kurtis Watkins, I've decided to use the gift God gave me.
As of September 2013 I will be taking Correspondence Courses at The Kubert School. While I'm doing that I'll also be taking a few classes on digital painting and concept art. Once I'm done, then in September 2014 I'll be moving back to New Jersey to attend The Kubert School full time.
Hopefully you will be seeing my name in comic books, movie end credits and video game end credits!
